CAUSES OF FIBROMYALGIA SYNDROME
Research has shown that there are four main causes of fibromyalgia syndrome:
hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal
axis dysregulation
behavioral
and psychological factors
GENETIC PREDISPOSITION
Genetics play a role in the way a person manages biologic stressors with strong evidence pointing to the importance of early life events and the development, or lack of development, of plasticity of neuroendicrine response systems to stress.
Note: Plasticity is the ability to adapt by the nervous system to changing environments.
Autosomal Dominant Inheritance
HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen)
Deficiency in Mu Opiate Receptors
